In the first story, we`re introduced to Senbei Norimaki, a brilliant inventor living in the small town known as Penguin Village. He`s just finished his latest invention, a robot named Arale, who`s made to look and act like a little girl... However, she quickly becomes a handful. Will Senbei be able to cater to her every whim, or will he go crazy before doing so?
In the second story, night has fallen on Penguin Village, and Senbei informs Arale that she must go to bed and get a good night`s rest in order to prepare for her first day of school in the morning. At school, she shows an incredible level of genius which manages to impress the likes of a fellow classmate named Akane. Later in the day, she also shows feats of strength which manages to impress not only Akane, but also her friend Taro, and his little brother Peasuke. All three quickly become friends with Arale.
