The story got to me. It's filled with blood and gore and the will to fight for what you believe in. Thorfinn the main character had his childhood taken away because of his father being murdered. He spends his teenage and young adult years following and fighting alongside the man who killed his father. Waiting for the moment he can avenge his father. Through many events including the fight for the crown, Thorfinn gets his moment taken away from him and becomes a slave. He regrets the killing he has done and tries to live a peaceful violate less life but this is short-lived when he has to protect the people he cares about.
