We've seen that moment coming several times now. You know the one. The one where the second shoe drops, they confess to their feelings, and they kiss; the sun is setting in the background as the music swells; the culmination of all the sexual tension that's built up since Marin realized her feeling for Gojou and Gojou, Marin.
We heard the bum bum of the heart that indicated that their was love in the air. This is Chekhov's gun. But when will it fire?
The latest example was one wherein Marin mistakenly booked a photography site that happened to be a love hotel. She's on top of him on the bed for photos, tension builds, and they lean in to kiss. The phone rings. The manager was calling to tell them that it was check-out time. This isn't the first time this has happened. It's more like the 5th or 6th. This is a bit behind baseball, but doijins are having a BALL making fun of him for not following through. Chitose covers exactly what Gojou is doing (self friend zoning) with predictable outcomes.
My first exposure to the show, I mistook this for Gal Gohan. They look to share an artist/writer. There were different reasons why the two MC's didn't confirm their feelings for each other, but it's the same outcome. In that manga, it took 66 of 68 episodes before the teacher, 5 YEARS LATER, confessed his feelings. They get married in one episode. She's a house wife pregnant with his kid and he goes off to work. The end.
If you're looking to find out about cosplaying, including weapons, make up, wigs, and eye contacts, you'll be happy. If you had a passing interest in photography or japanese doll making, you'll be delighted. If you're looking to see episodes packed with loving glances and intimate hand holding the night after they finally consumate their relationship, this show is going to REALLY irritate you. Because it's produced within an inch of its life and yet it leads to almost nothing. I would categorize this as a slice of life. If you think about it that way you'll be much better off. And don't expect the show to go on past the gun firing.
