Prince Wein could possibly be the king but he wants nothing less. But as he is faced with the various emergencies that his country faces, he finds the social interactions and his tactical advantages intriguing. He starts to enjoy the fray of politics in a way that he previously found stultifying.
It trades on the idea that he is a genius and how he is able to understand what his opponents want, how it will look to the public, and how he outmaneuvers them when it doesn't fit his agenda. It is a slow burn but an enjoyable one.
There is VERY little fighting unless you count words as daggers, and it is mostly about the relationship between Prince Wein and his little sister as well as his body guard who is a white headed woman who he's known for most of his life.
Boring or interesting. That's what you'll think of this series depending on your mood. It's a lot like ACCA in that it focuses on one person and their insights. You'll either find Prince Wein to be clever or pretentious, and because it's so character driven, this will heavily color whether you like the series or not.
My one issue with the show is nothing ever doesn't go to plan. He never faces someone just as verbally dextrous as he is, is never at a loss for words conversationally, never faces any real adversity. Everyone immedately folds when he makes a suggestion, and that's going to get old quickly even if you idolize the Prince. FFS, even Overlord had Shalltear Bloodfallen get mind controlled, putting doubt into Ainz, and that's a power fantasy if I've ever seen one. Where's this show's equivolent to that challenge?
