It's been 40 or 22 years (counting Ultimate Muscle) since we've got a anime released for this underdog of a series. Finally, after long decades have passed, we've got it boys.
Kinnikuman Perfect Origin arc is a sequel of the classic 1983 anime, though it isn't connected to Ultimate Muscle as what majority of the fans usually asked.
It offers the best service towards the fans leaving most of us satisfied and no longer being able to wait for another episode.
Story
Quick reminder that I will not add anything that's filled with spoilers (maybe some), just my opinion and probably something that was already mentioned at the synopsis.
The story is OK, nothing impactful, nor heartbreaking yet since it's just about 1-5 episodes. The philosophy hasn't cooked there yet, it still serves the basic "You guys are weak, ima kill ya” trope of shonen villains. For now it's just a mishmash of factions duking it out for their peace.
Animation
As expected from Production I.G, the anime is high quality, some high detailed close-ups with characters and even better color lighting. There are some moments where the animation is completely off but it sometimes makes up for it giving us some detailed muscles and closeups. The ending animation is also the cherry on top and also a tearful rundown over the series past years by animating the manga's cover arts.
Fights
It isn't flashy and it relies more on exposition, the first official fight was filled with two characters arguing over chojin laws and what their ideology suggests better. The fights after the first were kind of brief leaving me to be even more disappointed at that one character who did horribly throughout the series (Mr. Khamen), was expecting it to be sort of elongated, but that's already done. But they again make up for it with some clever strategies (though it mostly ends up as Deus Ex Machinas).
Soundtrack
Catchy, bop, and full bangers.
FLOW did an amazing job with the opening
Miyano-san rapped like a god
Yasuharu created the most fire 🔥🔥 OSTs I've heard for the series.
Designs
As expected from the creative minds of those who published their works to Yudetamago. The designs were peak. Sure, some of the designs looked so out of place but it gives off a vibe that there is more to them. Max Radial had the most outstanding and devastating designs that had ever crossed my eyes, so too did Crushman. Sorry Dalmeshi-man, you looked really disturbing.
Verdict
As what I've noticed in this anime, it doesn't want to stand out but only to show it's fans and the anime community that it still is alive despite the numerous years that had passed without getting any new news. It's not the type of anime which pulls a middle finger at viewers, it just does what it does best and serves the good stuff to the fans and the people of Japan also constantly reminding that it is the grandpa of shonen.
