Not a spoiler, but I really liked the character development of the bartender. I never really had any negative emotions towards him, but rather the theme of the anime, which got... Gory really fast. My only issue was that it wasn't gory enough, despite it should have been, but that's a me-thing. This is not for squeamish or easily disturbed audiences, I can tell you that, but from the gore mangas I've seen, it could be worst. The bartender is a pretty swell guy, I won't go into detail, not that there's even much to say about him. The art is extremely detailed and beautiful, but I really focused more on the suspensefulness of what's going to happen next, or who's going to win 'another chance at life'. There's unexpected romance, which... Surprised me, but in a good way. It was more of a 'chemistry' between two unlikely individuals, and I'm not talking about the bartender. I was kind of disappointed about how unexpected the 'games' were and kind of meaningless to some. It honestly felt like I was watching a game show, and the winning contestants got a few dollars and a handshake, although this is just my opinion. If you watch the anime, you might harbor the same opinions or even different ones. Much was put on the line, but then again, if you put up everything on the line, would you have wanted something MORE?
